He stated that
Pleasanton is a charming place to live and he would like the opportunity to stay
in the community.

Mr. W. G. Kovac, 3124 Weymouth Court, stated this property has been subjected
to many changes in zoning and development plans, and he felt it should be developed
in whatever manner that Council feels is best for this area. He requested that if
the project is approved that the soundwall be required to be constructed before any
other construction takes place in order to alleviate noise and dust problems.

Mr. Larry Sumpf, 4425 Mirador Drive, stated he is a single parent needing a
home of his own and would like the opportunity to start over again. He stated he
resented people who already have homes who are not willing to allow housing for
those who do not have it. He stated that this is a nice community and he would
like to live here.

Mr. Jehn Parker, 7452 Muirwood Court, stated he already has his home but feels
there is a great need for this type of housing, especially where his children are
concerned, who are just starting out on their own.

Mr. Gene OtBrien, 5556 Paseo Navarro, stated he has lived in Pleasanton 23 years
and has children in college who will soon be needing housing that they can afford to
purchase if they desire to live in Pleasanton. He stated that if Council overlooks
plans like this project then they are pricing kids out of the housing market.

Mr. Dick Watkins, Associate Partner of Meadow Plaza Associates, stated this is
one of the best orojects in the area and would meet the criteria for many people who
need housing in Pleasanton. He stated that if the project is turned down the pro-
petty will probably become a shopping center.

Mr. Guy Houston, student at Moraga, stated he grew up in Pleasanton and would
like to return here to live, and he felt this project would allow him to qualify
for housing in the city. He urged Council to support the project.

Ms. Joyce Hayward, Alamo~ presented a petition signed by 96 residents, which
read as follows:

"We, the undersigned, presently reside in Pleasanton. We support the pro-
posed six (6) acre, 126 condominium project that is currently being con-
sidered for approval by t~e City of Pleasanton at the corner of West Las
Positas and Santa Rita Road."

Ms. Hayward stated these signatures had been obtained in a three hour period
this date, and she felt these represented a large silent majority of the community
in support of the proposed project.

The following persons spoke in opposition to this item:

Mr. Ed Roquette, 3436 Windsor Court, President of the Pleasanton Meadow Home-
owners Association and Cabana Club, stated there are 625 homes in this area with
approximately 2500-3000 residents. He stated he had attended all of the Planning
Commission and City Council meetings related to this property, expressing this
group's concern regarding density of the proposed project. He stated they did not
feel htat it is in the best interests of the community to allow density of 21 units
per acre. He presented a petition signed by 552 residents of the area which read
as follows:

6. 5/24/83
