He stated
he concurred with the staff report that the City should retain ownership of the build-
ings and grounds. He stated this is a rare opportunity to preserve some of Pleasanton's
unique hisiorical buildings and history, and he strongly urged this be done. He stated
the Historical Society supports the use of the annex by the Valley Volunteer Bureau and
felt this use would be compatible with the use of the Old City Hall building for the
Historical Museum. He suggested the trailer be removed from the grounds, but requested
that it be left there for a short period of time to be used as storage for the Museum,
if the Historical Society is successful in obtaining the Old City Hall building lease.
He stated he could not think of a better use of the Old City Hall Building than. a His-
torical Museum. He questioned the sale of the Vizzolini house (annex) because it had
been purchased with gas tax funds. Mr. Campbell requested that the Amador-Livermore
Valley Historical Society be allowed to lease the Old City Hall building from the City
and to get whatever assistance available to restore and refurbish the building. He
stated that historical restoration grant funds would be applied for as well as volun-
teer action and donations, to raise money for the restoration of the building.

Ms. Lori Scott Venter, 210 Rose Avenue, representing the Pleasanton Downtown
Association, stated this groups supports the report of city staff. She stated they
had been concerned about use of the building generating increased traffic and parking
problems on Main Street. She encouraged use of the building as a Museum.

18. 5/24/83
