349 <br /> <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Mercer, Mohr, Wood and Mayor Butler <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> Mayor Butler suggested the City of Pleasanton should send a letter of <br /> congratulations to the new City of San Ramon and wish it good luck in controlling <br /> its own destiny. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Mercer appealed the minor PUD modification of the Brielh <br />Homes project in order that citizens in the area be fully aware of what is <br />happening. Councilmember Brandes supported the appeal and would like it on <br />the next agenda. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Brandes felt that the approval of the tentative map for <br />Tract 5117, Crocker Homes, should be brought before Council for review due to <br />traffic problems near Sports Park and to look at alternatives that may be <br />possible towards connecting the Sports Park over to West Las Positas. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Mohr indicated concern about the raised dots in front <br />of Mission Park being beyond the crosswalk and felt the Traffic Committee <br />should look at this at their next meeting. Mr. Warnick indicated staff <br />could resolve the problem without going to the Committee. <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> Councilmember Mohr attended the ABAG meeting and indicated they had been <br />very concerned about the cities, counties, state and even federal agencies <br />being able to maintain the quality of the roadways as well as water lines and <br />sewer lines. <br /> <br />MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br /> Mr. Raymond Kaupp, 435 Abbie Street, spoke to Council regarding the <br />traffic problem on Abbie Street which begins every Spring with the opening of <br />the softball league. The street narrows from 45' to 27' and there are no sidewalks <br />for the children to use. Mayor Butler indicated the Engineering Department would <br />check on the problem and report to the Traffic Committee. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Mercer indicated the President of the Softball League <br />should be contacted to advise him of the problem and to encourage his cooperation <br />in enforcing the speed limit among his players. The Chief of Police should be <br />alerted to step up control of this area and if they cannot control the problem, <br />then simply close the parking lot and force the players to park at Pleasanton <br />Elementary School and walk to the field. <br /> <br /> Mr. Chris Todaro, 395 Abbie Street, indicated all these steps have been <br />done before and it works for a while then reverts back to the original pattern. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Mercer, and seconded by Councilmember Brandes, <br />to (1) send a letter to the President of the League seeking his cooperation in <br />controlling the problem (2) increase police patzol to insure obeyance of speed <br />limits and require the Chief to report back to Council on their efforts, and <br />(3) if all else fails, then close the gates to the parking lot. <br /> <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Mercer, Mohr, Wood and Mayor Butler <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> David Oxsen, 380 Abbie Street, wanted to know how he could inform Council <br />if all these measures do not work and it was the consensus of Council that any <br />of the residents could call them at their homes directly. <br /> <br /> -3- 3/22/83 <br /> <br /> <br />
