Councilmember Butler stated he has no problem with the design of the project, but <br /> does have concerns as to whether this is the type of facility that should be built in <br /> this area; how does this fit in with other projects already approved and with the <br /> applications that will be presented in the future. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Mohr stated she felt this is good land use zoning and planning, and <br /> that the developer is the one to determine the marketing of such a facility in this <br /> area. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Brandes stated he felt this is a unique concept and that the City is <br /> fortunate to have a corporation such a Marriott to locate in our community. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer stated he opposes this project because he feels there should be more <br />mid-to-higher room facilities, and that hotel/motel packages should include elevated <br />levels of service such as meeting rooms and restaurants. <br /> <br /> It was moved bv Councilmember Brandes, and seconded by Councilmember Mohr, that <br />Resolution No. 84-598, approving PUD-81-30-24D, application of the Prudential Insur- <br />ance Company for design review for a three-story, 148 room hotel and restaurant on an <br />approximately 5.34 acre site located on the east side of Hopyard Road, 350 feet south <br />of Gibraltar Drive in the Hacienda Business Park, subject to all conditions contained <br />in Planning Commission Resolution No. 2561, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmennbers Brandes, Butler, and Mohr <br />NOES: Councilmember Wood and Mayor Mercer <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />PUD-84-13, Application of Castlewood Properties, Inc.~ to prezone an approximately <br />8.8 acre site to PUD (Planned Unit Development)-HiSh Density Residential and "A" <br />(Agricultural) Districts and for Development Plan approval for an 84 unit multi- <br />family residential complex and proposed City park on the site located on the east <br />side of Bernal Avenue between Tawny Drive and Vineyard Avenue <br /> <br />Consider Adoption of Negative Declaration <br /> Mayor Mercer declared the pulDlic hearing open on this item, and continued the <br />matter to the meeting of December 11, 1984, 8:00 P.M., in the Pleasanton Council <br />Chambers, at the request of Vintage Hills Homeowners Association and agreed to by <br />Castlewood Properties, Inc. <br /> <br />Application of the City of Pleasanton to adopt its Housin~ Element Update per Section <br />65588(a) of the Government Code. The Update consists of an examination of current <br />housing needs, updated residential site inventor~z, and a housing p~o~ram evaluation <br /> <br />Consider Adoption of Negative Declaration <br /> Mr. Harris presented his report (SR 84:633) dated Novenlber 27, 1984, regarding <br />this matter. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer declared the public hearing open on the application and the negative <br />declaration. <br /> <br /> No one in the audience spoke in favor of or in opposition to this item. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer declared the public hearing closed. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Butler, and seconded by Councilmember Mohr, that <br />Resolution No. 84-599, determining on the basis of a review of initial environmental <br />study done for this project, that no significant environmental impact would occur as <br />outlined in the City's guidelines and that a negative declaration is appropriate in <br /> <br /> 5. 11/27/84 <br /> <br /> <br />
