He stated the "retirement hotel" would be operated as <br />a business; the amenities will include the main lobby, offices, central dining roomm <br />theatre, beauty and barber shops, sundry store, and social and recreational activities <br />area. He stated this type facility is needed in Pleasanton but that the developer can- <br />not qualify if the growth management program has to be applied to the project. <br /> <br /> After discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and seconded by Council- <br />member Butler, determining that the proposed retirement community proposed for the <br />Frank Property located at the southwest corner of Stoneridge Drive and Pleasant Hill <br />Road, is residential in nature and that a general plan amendment cannot be permitted <br />unless the general plan designation for the subject parcel is changed to residential. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, and Mohr <br />NOES: Councilmember Wood and Mayor Mercer <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />Valley Memorial Hospital Board Request to be Exempt from the Three North Pleasanton <br />Improvement Districts <br /> Mayor Mercer presented a letter from the Board of Directors for Valley Memorial <br />Hospital dated November 12, 1984, which provided data and support necessary for their <br />request to be exempt from the North Pleasanton improvement districts. <br /> <br /> Mr. Larry Bartelson, 675 Hamilton, Chairman of the Board of Directors for Valley <br />Memorial Hospital, reviewed the additional information contained in the letter. He <br />assured Council that the Board of Directors has every intention of locating an acute <br />care facility in Pleasanton, and also to retain the present hospital in Livermore. <br />He stated it is their belief they can do that. <br /> <br /> 9. 11/13/84 <br /> <br /> <br />
