Councilmember Mohr stated that a resident on Bernal Avenue has written her request-
ing that the street name "01d Bernal Avenue" be changed to "Bernal Court" so that traffic
will not come down this street thinking it is a thru street. Mr. Warnick advised that
the street will be called "Bernal Court" at the end of the street and that signs will be
posted for "No Thru Traffic".

Councilmember Wood stated that the landscaping plan for Valley Plaza II does not
seem to be adequate, and he requested this be looked at.

Mayor Mercer stated that the passage of Proposition 36 (Jarvis II) could have a
serious impact on the City of Pleasanton related to the refund provision, and the City's
ability to provide services. He stated a primary concern is that the City would not
have the ability to adjust water and sewer rates to meet the cost of providing those
services. After discussion, it was moved by Mayor Mercer, and seconded by Councilmember
Brandes, that Resolution No. 84-562, a resolution of the City Council of the City of
Pleasanton in opposition to Proposition 36, be adopted.
The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, and Mayor Mercer
NOES: Councilmember Wood
ABSENT: None

CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS
Mr. Keith Warden, 4611 Third Street, President of the Pleasanton Library League,
presented his ~mitten report dated October 24, 1984, regarding the matter of setting
up a Pleasanton Library Citizen's Committe, scope of work, and estimated costs relative
to a new library for the City of Pleasanton.
