Mayor Mercer stated that he has received a letter from Falcon Development Com- <br />pany requesting reconsideration of their sign application, which was recently denied <br />by Council. Council discussion ensued regarding the policy on allowing signs. Mr. <br />Harris advised that the Planning Commission will be reviewing the sign policy at <br />their meeting of June 13, 1984. After further discussion, Council referred this <br />matter to the Planning Commission to be included in their review in considering <br />temporary signs adjacent to freeways within the City. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> Councilmember Mohr reported on the Transit Committee meetings regarding bus <br />service in the Valley. She advised that the draft joint exercise of powers agree- <br />ment and the bylaws are being reviewed at this time by the city attorneys of the <br />cities. She presented copies of these documents to Councilmembers for their review. <br /> <br />MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br /> Mr. Gary Barzee, President of the Foothill High School Band Boosters Club, thanked <br />the City Council for their support of the Foothill High School Marching Band. He re- <br />ported on their recent trip to St. Petersburg, Florida, to participate in the National <br />Festival of States. Tim Ruben, Marching Drum Major of the Foothill High School Band, <br />also thanked the City Council and community for their support of the Foothill Band. <br />He presented two pictures to Councilmember Butler for his outstanding support of their <br />organization. Councilmember Butler then presented a Proclamation from the Mayor of <br />St. Petersburg to the Foothill High School Marching Band declaring them honorary <br />citizens of the City of St. Petersburg, Florida, and commending them for their ex- <br />ceptional marching abilities. Mayor Mercer commended the Marching Band, their direc- <br />tors, the Boosters Club, and Mr. and Mrs. Barzee for their fine efforts and the <br />example they have set for the City of Pleasanton. <br /> <br /> Mr. Richard ~ebholz, 1951 Foxswallow Circle, Stated that dust from the construction <br />of the Valley Plaza Apartments has been excessive, and that construction workers use <br />foul language and play their radios loud. He stated that start up times for work has <br />been earlier than that allowed by City code. Mr. Rebholz advised he has notified the <br />City offices several times but has not received much assistance in this matter. He <br />stated he had met with Mr. Duncan Matteson, the developer, this date who advised him <br />he would take action to better control dust, but that this problem has been compounded <br />by the excessive dry season and bad winds. Mr. Rebholz stated that his swimming pool <br />needs to be cleaned because of the dust problem, and that two valuable plates had been <br />knocked off the wall of his home and broken because of large equipment movement re- <br />lated to this project. He advised the total damage amounted to approximately $850.00, <br />and he felt he should be reimbursed for this damage. After discussion, Mayor Mercer <br />instructed staff to meet with Mr. Matteson and Mr. Ferreri, the developers of this <br />project, and their foreman, to solve this problem. Mr. Rebholz was invited to attend <br />the meeting also. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS <br />Application of Callahan Pentz Properties, Pleasanton, for development plan approval <br />of an approximately 47,000 sq. ft. office building and related facilities on an <br />approximately 3.5 acre site located in the vicinity of 5669 Gibraltar Drive (south) <br />(the AT&T side). Zoning for the property is PUD (Planned Unit Development) Indus- <br />trial, Commercial and Offices District <br /> Mr. Harris presented his report (SR 84:322) dated June 6, 1984, regarding this <br />matter. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer declared the public hearing open on this item. <br /> <br /> Mr. Howard Sword, representing Callahan Pentz Properties, stated he had reviewed <br />the staff report and concurred with the recommendations. <br /> <br /> 5. 6/12/84 <br /> <br /> <br />
