Appeal by the City Council of a decision of the Design Review Board approving Z-84-107, <br /> application of the Mozart Development Company for design review approval of four com- <br /> mercial/office buildings ranging in size from three stories~ approximately 72~500 sq. <br /> ft., to five stories, approximately 189,000 sq. ft~, and related facilities on appro- <br /> ximately 20 acres at the southwest corner of 1-580 and 1-680, east of Stoneridge Mall <br />' Road. Zoning for the property is PUD (Planned Unit Develo~ent)-Commercial and Offices <br /> District <br /> Mr. Harris presented his report (SR 84:272) dated May 14, 1984, regarding this <br /> matter. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer declared the public hearing open on this item. <br /> <br /> Mr. Leonard McVicar, 255 North Market Street, San Jose, presented the project, <br /> which he felt has a distinctive design. He requested approval of the first phase, <br /> stating that he planned to start construction in the Fall. <br /> <br /> Mr. Olisa Anene, Pacific Urban Design, reviewed in detail the architectural design <br /> of the project as well as illustrating the colors and materials to be used for the <br /> project. <br /> <br /> Mr. Peter McComber, the landscape architect, presented landscape plans for the <br /> project. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Mohr expressed concern about how this project will look from the <br /> freeway; stating she felt the landscaping is skimpy. <br /> <br /> Mr. Jack Hovingh, 4250 Muirwood Drive, expressed concern regarding traffic condi- <br /> tions. <br /> <br /> There being no further testimony, Mayor Mercer declared the public hearing closed <br /> on this item. <br /> <br /> After discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and seconded by Council- <br /> member Butler, that Resolution No. 84-257, denying the appeal of the City Council of a <br /> decision of the Design Review Board, and approving Z-84-107, application of the Mozart <br /> Development Company for design review approval of four commercial/office buildings <br /> ranging in size from three stories, approximately 72,500 sq. ft., to five stories, <br /> approximately 189,000 sq. ft., and related facilities on approximately 20 acres at the <br /> southwest corner of 1-580 and 1-680, east of the Stoneridge Mall Road, subject to all <br /> conditions contained in Design Review Board Resolution No. 84-24, be adopted. <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Mercer <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> Councilmember Butler left the meeting at 12:00 midnight, due to illness. <br /> <br /> Appeal. by the City Council of a decision of the Planning Commission approving UP-84-5, <br /> application of Ponderosa Homes for a conditional use permit to operate a model home <br /> complex, sales office and related facilities on six lots at the intersection of the <br /> p.roposed extensions of Hansen Drive and Paseo Santa Cruz. Zoning for the property is <br /> PUD (Planned Unit Development)-Medium Dep.sity Residential District <br /> Mr. Harris presented his report (SR 84:275) dated May 14, 1984, regarding this <br /> matter. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer declared the public hearing open on this item. <br /> <br /> No one in the audience spoke in favor of or in opposition to this item. <br /> <br /> 13. 5/22/84 <br /> <br /> <br />
