She explained the need for the full-time employee and stated that revenue from the program will make it self-supporting. It was moved by Councilmember Mercer, and seconded by Councilmember Brandes, that Resolution No. 84-79, approving the change in classification of Recreation Coordinator from temporary to full-time, Department of Recreation and Human Resources, be adopted. Council discussion ensued regarding additional funding for the library to provide for extra hours to be open. Mr. John Clatworthy, 3186 Lansdale Court, the Cityis representative on the Alameda County Library Commission, encouraged Council to favorably consider this matter. He stated that Council will have input as to w[en the Library would be open the extra hours. He added that citizens need additional service from the Library. Ms. Carol Start, Librarian in Pleasanton, reviewed the hours that the Library is presently open and stated this is not adequate to fully serve the needs of Pleasanton residents. Ms. Jeannie Cooper, Alameda County Librarian, m2ged Council to approve the increase in service at the Pleasanton Library, and stated there are a variety of options open to provide the additional service, which can be determined after further review. After discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Mercer, and seconded by Council- member Brandes, that Resolution No. 84-80, approving the Mid-Year Budget - 1983-84 Fiscal Year, as presented in Staff Report 84:86, be adopted. After further discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Mohr, and seconded by Councilmember Wood, to amend the above motion to include funding to provide additional hours to service at the Pleasanton Branch Library on a trial basis to the end of the fiscal year, and instructing staff to prepare a contract for approval by Council, setting forth in detail the additional service.
