Mr. Joe Calabrigo, representing the School District, stated he realized this is a <br />very emotional issue, but zoning is not as much as issue as is the availability of city <br />services. He stated the School District is requesting annexation for the north side of <br />Sycamore Road only, for low density residential development. He stated he felt there <br />could be alternatives worked out that would please people on both sides of Sycamore <br />Road and the entire area. <br /> <br /> The Director of Planning advised that existing land uses would not be changed if <br />annexed to the City as long as they were not expanded. <br /> <br /> After discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and seconded by Mayor <br />Butler, instructing staff to prepare annexation proceedings for Mr. and Mrs. James <br />Sonne, 510 Happy Valley Road, and for Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Davis, 500 Happy Valley <br />Road, after making the finding that these properties are contiguous to the City just <br />south of the new Carriage Gardens development, and that their annexation would not <br />significantly affect the Pleasanton planning area. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Mohr, and Mayor Butler <br />NOES: Councilmembers Mercer and Wood <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> After further discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Wood, and seconded by <br />Councilmember Mercer, that Resolution No. 84-45, denying the request for annexation <br />of Land Use, representing Amador Valley Joint Union High School District (42.5 acres <br />on the north side of Sycamore Road); Gary VanWegen (3.44 acres at 488 Sycamore Road); <br />Mr. and Mrs. Charles Daggett (1.75 acres on the north side of Sycamore Road); Mr. and <br />Mrs. Helmut Stonawski (0.80 acre at 336 Sycamore Road);and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Pigna- <br />taro (9.30 acres at 734 Sycamore Road),be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Mercer, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Butler <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />Matters for the Information of the Council <br /> There were no Matters for the Information of the Council presented at this meeting. <br /> <br />REPORTS OF THE CITY ATTORNEY <br />Mr. MacDonald distributed copies of his 500 word impartial analysis on the Growth <br />Management Element in connection with the April 10, 1984 referendum election, for the <br />i~formation of the Council. No action was required or taken by Council on this matter. <br /> <br />COMMUNICATIONS <br />Letter from Pleasanton Today and Tomorrow Re: Panel Discussion <br /> This matter was discussed under Meeting Open to the Public on the agenda. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL CALENDAR <br /> Mr. Walker presented the City Council Calendar for the information of the Council. <br /> <br /> Mayor Butler advised that he would be unable to attend the Mayors' Conference on <br />February 2, 1984, because of a prior commitment. Councilmember Wood volunteered to <br />attend this meeting on behalf of the Mayor. <br /> <br />EXECUTIVE SESSION <br /> Mayor Butler recessed the meeting at 10:30 P.M., to an Executive Session to dis- <br />cuss pending litigation and labor relations. <br /> <br /> Mayor Butler reconvened the meeting at 11:00 P.M. <br /> <br /> 10. 1/24/84 <br /> <br /> <br />
