<br />~ <br />~ <br />LD <br />W <br />CD <br /><( <br /> <br />-379" <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />instructed the Police Chief to meet with the School Superintendent in an at- <br />tempt to find alternate parking spaces for students, and also to increase pa- <br />trol of this area during the noon hour and at the end of school hours. <br /> <br />SPECIAL REPORTS <br />Report from the Library Committee <br />Mr. Keith Wardin, representing the Citizens Library Committee, presented <br />their report regarding the proposed new library for the City of Pleasanton. <br />He elaborated on five areas of concern: services; site location; administra- <br />tion; implementation; and cost and funding. <br /> <br />After a question and answer discussion, it was moved by Councilmember But- <br />ler, and seconded by Councilmember Brandes, that Resolution No. 85-241, sup- <br />porting in principle the proposal for a new library building, and instructing <br />staff to prepare a report refining the design, cost figures, and time schedule <br />for consideration with the upcoming budget, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilmember Wood <br /> <br />Mayor Mercer thanked Mr. Wardin and his Committee for their excellent re- <br />port. Mr. Wardin expressed appreciation to Council for their support and to <br />his Committee for their outstanding efforts in preparing the report. <br /> <br />Heather Mulhall presented a petition to Council, signed by 297 students of <br />Alisal School which read as follows: <br /> <br />~We, the undersigned students of Alisal School, support a new or expanded <br />library facility for the City of Pleasanton~. <br /> <br />Mr. Wardin asked those in the audience who were in support of the proposed <br />new library building to stand. Approximately 75 people stood in support of <br />this issue. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS <br />PUD-85-3, Application of Sente Associates Main Street and Clyde Vaughn for PUD <br />(Planned Unit Development) zoning and development plan approval to develop a <br />two building office/retail complex consisting of 20,004 sq. ft. and 22,440 sq. <br />ft. structures. The former being the renovation of 450 Main Street and the <br />latter being new construction at 400 Main Street. Current zoning for the site <br />is C-C (Central Commercial) District and it proposed to be rezoned to the PUD <br />(Planned Unit Development)-C-C (Central Commercial) District or to any other <br />zoning district consistent with the General Plan <br /> <br />Consider Adoption of Negative Declaration <br />Mr. Harris presented his report (SR 85:237) dated May 7, 1985, regarding <br />this matter. <br /> <br />Mayor Mercer declared the public hearing open on the application an the <br />negative declaration. <br /> <br />Mr. Howard Sword, representing Sente Associates and Clyde Vaughn, present- <br />ed renderings and displays of the proposed development.
