MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br /> Ms. Ann Doss, representing the Livermore-Amador Valley His- <br /> torical Society, presented a rendering of the old City Hall <br /> Building at 603 Main Street, painted by Kathy Jahn. She ex- <br /> pressed appreciation to Council and City staff for use of this <br /> building as a historical museum. Vice Mayor Brandes accepting <br /> the painting on behalf of the City and thanked Ms. Doss and her <br /> organization for their efforts in restoring this historical <br /> landmark. <br /> <br /> PUBLIC HEARINGS <br /> PUD-84-22, Application of Harbor View Investment, Inc,, for <br /> Planned Unit Development zoning and development plan approval to <br /> construct an approximately 156,000 sq. ft., 212 unit hotel and <br /> related facilities on an approximately 3.6 acre site located on <br /> the east side of Dublin Canyon Road (11910 Dublin Canyon Road), <br /> approximately 0.2 mile north of Foothill Road. Zoning for the <br /> property is "A" (Agricultural) District <br /> <br /> Consider Adoption of Mitigated Negative Declaration <br /> (Contd. Open from 3-12-85) <br /> Mr. Harris presented his report (SR 85:191) dated April 16, <br /> 1985, regarding this matter. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Wood stated he had the opportunity of staying <br /> at this type hotel in Menlo Park, and he felt it rated superior <br /> to Hyatt, Holiday, and Cliff Hotels, as far as noise level, fur- <br /> niture, and service level are concerned. <br /> <br /> Vice Mayor Brandes declared the continued public hearing open <br /> on the application and the mitigated negative declaration. <br /> <br /> Mr. Leonard McVicor, Pacific Urban Design, 255 N. Market <br />Street, San Jose, stated this proposed hotel is unique in design <br />and is something that has not yet been planned for Pleasanton. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lawrence Lui, Harbor View Investments, stated the proposed <br />development consists of a 212 unit hotel with seafood restaurant. <br />He advised the site is zoned commercial. He reviewed the project <br />and landscaping, stating the Western Lodge Group will manage the <br />hotel. He stated the hotel will be different from the regular <br />clientele - it will be a higher class facility. He stated there <br />is need for a seafood restaurant in this city. He stated he is <br />aware of the traffic concerns but felt that with street improve- <br />ments expected to be completed in the next five years, he did not <br />feel this would be a problem. He advised the hotel would not be <br />built until 1988, at which time appropriate mitigation measures <br />would take care of traffic concerns. He concluded by stating the <br />proposed project is an exclusive and elegant hotel, and as such <br />will attract a better than average customer use. <br /> <br /> Mr. Bill Lee, Architect, elaborated on the design of the <br />project. He stated it is an appropriate design and need, small'in <br />scale, aesthetically pleasing view from the freeway, elegant~entry <br />way, and appropriate landscaping.
