CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> <br />LAVWMA Special City Council Meeting 1-10-85 <br /> Mayor Mercer advised there will be a Special City Council Meeting held on January <br />10, 1985, ?:30 P.M., in the Pleasanton Council Chambers, to discuss LAVWMA Export <br />Capacity Expansion Project. <br /> <br />MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br /> Mr. Milton Hare, Executive Director of The CURA Family, a drug treatment center, <br />reviewed the history of the CURA program and the need for funding. tte advised that <br />the Board of Supervisors recently recommended that the contract for these services be <br />awarded to Walden House in San Francisco. He stated that several Mayors in Alameda <br />County have requested that the RFP process be set aside to allow CURA to obtain support <br />and endorsement from other cities in the County. Mr. Hare advised that the CURA program <br />is the only South County prorider competinE for the current RFP and is the only estab- <br />lished residential facility in South County. He stated this matter will be considered <br />again by the Board of Supervisors on January 15th. He requested Council support and <br />endorsement of the CURA program. <br /> <br /> Mr. James Greenwall, resident of CURA, explained the treatment program and empha- <br />sized the importance of getting funding for this center. He stated there are 46 resi- <br />dents at this time, and advised that one of CURA's goals is to expand the program. <br /> <br /> Ms. Teresa Walker, resident of the CURA program for three months, stated she did <br />not know where she would be today if it were not for the CURA program. <br /> <br /> Ms. Lorene Murford, resident of CURA, stated that CURA has given her a whole new <br />lifestyle, enabling her to see another side of society. <br /> <br /> Mr. Scott Henderson, resident of CURA, stated that CURA is strugglingto keep its <br />doors open, and needs funding verv much. <br /> <br /> After discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Butler, and seconded by Council- <br />member Wood, that Resolution No. 85-20, supporting the CURA Family program and re- <br />questing that County funding be restored to this program, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS <br />RZ-84-18, Application of the City of Pleasanton to Drezone the five marcelS totallin~ <br />approximately 1.9+ acres located at 3655, 3683, and 3731 Vineyard Avenue to the PUD <br />(Planned Unit Development) Medium Density Residential District or any other zoning <br />district in conformance with the General Plan <br /> <br />Consider Adoption of Negative Declaration <br /> Mr. Harris presented his report (SR 85:02) dated January 7, 1985, regarding ~his <br />matter. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer declared the public hearing open on the application and the negative <br />declaration. <br /> <br /> No one in the audience spoke in favor of this item. <br /> <br /> The following persons spoke in opposition to the application: <br /> <br /> Mr. Chuck Muth, 3644 Vine Street, stated that Mr. Heinrich had advised Council at <br /> <br /> 4. 1/7/85 <br /> <br /> <br />
