Boulevard and Santa Rita Road should be realigned for better traffic circula- <br />tion. He presented a TV video show of traffic on Black Avenue to show Council <br />the traffic problems on this street. <br /> <br /> Vice Mayor Brandes instructed staff to notify Mr. Bailey regarding the <br />next meeting on this item, and requested Mr. Bailey to notify any of his <br />neighbors who are interested in the matter. Vice Mayor Brandes also instruct- <br />ed staff to notify the Chamber of Commerce and any citizens who might be con- <br />cerned regarding this issue. He stated that Council will make a final deci- <br />sion on this matter latter. <br /> <br /> Mr. Ayman Kahale, 4634 Del Valle Parkway, thanked Council for delaying any <br />action on FAU funding until negotiations are completed on the Del Valle Park- <br />way matter. He thanked Mr. Walker for amending the Minutes of July 16, 1985, <br />regarding Council's statement of position on the Del Valle Parkway. He stated <br />the Minutes did not accurately reflect his statements or those'of Mr. Guter- <br />mann; it appears to show that their opposition was to the widening of Del <br />Valle Parkway to four lines whereas actually their opposition is to the exten- <br />sion of Del Valle Parkway and making it as a major thoroughfare. Vice Mayor <br />Brandes stated his corrections would be noted. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Mohr asked for a traffic count on Black Avenue before and <br />after the stop signs were'installed on Valley Avenue. <br /> <br /> Mrs. Louise Clausnitzer, Vice President of the Mohr House Restoration Com- <br />mittee, consisting of 12 volunteers, responded to City Council's request for <br />information regarding this project. She presented a written report dated Au- <br />gust 6, 1985, containing information regarding phasing for the moving and res- <br />toration of the house as well as costs. She presented a list of contributions <br />that have already been received. She also presented a letter from Warren R. <br />Harding, President Community First National Bank, in support of the proposed <br />restoration of the Mohr home. Mrs. Clausnitzer stated that after being in <br />charge of the Womens' Club on Kottinger for 25 years, she is well aware of the <br />need of another facility in the City of larger size in order to accommodate <br />larger size parties. She urged Council to consider the recommendations pres- <br />ented in the report. <br /> <br /> Vice Mayor Brandes stated he would like to have this matter scheduled on <br />the agenda in September for full Council attendance. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Mohr stated Ehere is some urgency in this matter; that the <br />structure should be moved before the rainy season begins. Also, there is the <br />concern of vandalism or loss by fire of this historical home. She stated to <br />act tonight will acknowledge that the Committee has strong community support <br />in terms of money and service. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Wood asked if, assuming the house is moved but funds cannot <br />be raised to restore the structure, will it then be used as a test house for <br />the Fire Department? <br /> <br /> Councilmember Mohr stated she does not foresee any possibility of this <br />happening; the contribution sheet shows many contributions already,'and as the <br />project gets further along many other citizens and businesses will become in- <br />terested in contributing to this cause. <br /> <br /> 8-6-8s 92, <br /> <br /> <br />
