Council discussion ensued regarding whether or not applications for second
<br />story additions should be approved by the Design Review Board, and whether
<br />surrounding neighbors should be notified.

<br /> It was moved by Councilmember Butler, and seconded by Councilmember Mohr,
<br />that Ordinance No. 1240, to be read by title only and waiving further reading
<br />thereof, approving RZ-85-17, application of the City of Pleasanton to amend
<br />Section 2-5.39(a), of Article 3, Chapter 2, Title II of the Ordinance Code to
<br />revoke the required distances separating second-story additions from adjoining
<br />structures in the R-1 District, be introduced.
<br />The roll call vote was as follows:

<br /> Council instructed staff to prepare a draft ordinance requiring the Design
<br />Review Board to approve second story additions, and to include notification to
<br />surrounding property owners, for review and consideration by Council at a fu-

<br />Road

<br /> Mayor Brandes stated that Ordinance No. 1232 was introduced on November
<br />19, 1985, by a vote of 4-Ayes, 1-No, and that it was now in order to adopt the
<br />ordinance.

<br /> Mayor Brandes stated that Ordinance No. 1234 was introduced on December 3,
<br />1985, by a vote of 3-Ayes, 2-Noes, and that it was now in order to adopt the
<br />ordinance. Mayor Brandes stated that testimony taken at the meeting of Decem-
<br />ber 3, 1985, is on record, therefore does not have to be repeated.

<br /> Ms. Mary Cameron, 5431 Greenfield Way, asked Council to consider the fol-
<br />lowing issues when making their decision relative to this issue: weather con-
<br />ditions are not the same in Pleasanton as in southern California; what are the
<br />percentages of fires started from brush fires; the fire manpower in Pleasan-
<br />ton; does Pleasanton maintain enough fire manpower; how many roof fires have
<br />
