433 <br /> Ms. Judy Mayhew, 610 Main Street, spoke in opposition to this appeal. She <br /> stated the pedestrian walk-thru should be closed off. She expressed concern <br /> regarding traffic problems because of the narrow driveway. She added she felt <br /> the conditions of approval for Mavridis' previous project should be met before <br /> additional applications for development are approved. She expressed concern <br /> regarding the driveway-and landscaping. <br /> <br /> Mr. Bras asked for approval of the appeal. He stated that Mr. Baker, <br /> property owner and landlord of Ms. Mayhew, is against a joint parking lot. He <br /> advised that landscaping will be added to the proposed project and the drive- <br /> -- way will be cleaned up. He stated the PG&E meters cannot be moved. He stated <br /> the pedestrian pass-thru could be blocked off if Council so desired. He ad- <br /> vised he would like to save the tree but the report did not indicate this <br /> could be done. <br /> <br /> There being no further testimony, Mayor Brandes declared the public hear- <br /> ing closed on this item. <br /> <br /> After discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Mercer, and seconded by <br /> Mayor Brandes, that Resolution No. 86-309, approving AP-86-07, appeal of a <br /> decision of the Design Review Board denying the application of Ted Mavridis <br /> for design review approval to construct an addition to an existing commercial <br />Cr) structure, consisting of approximately 750 square feet of ground-floor commer- <br />03 cial space and two second-floor apartment units and related facilities, lo- <br />~-~ cated at 618 Main Street, subject to conditions set forth in Staff Report <br />|11 86:282, but removing condition 3 relative to the walnut tree, and condition 9 <br />~ relative to the PG&E meters, be adopted. <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br />~ AYES: Councilmembers Butler, Mercer, Mohe, and Mayor Brandes <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilmember Wood <br /> <br /> MATTERS CONTINUED FOR DECISION <br /> There were no matters continued for decision presented at this meeting. <br /> <br /> SPECIAL REPORTS <br /> There were no Special Reports presented at this meeting. <br /> <br /> REPORTS OF BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS <br /> Actions Taken b~ the Board of Adjustment, Design Review Board, and Plannin9 <br /> Commission at t eir Meetin9 of 6-26-86 <br /> Mr. Swift presented his report (SR 86:280) dated June 26, 1986, regarding <br /> this matter. Mr. Elliott advised that the Caltrans policy on this issue is <br /> firm, however, he will investigate to see if there might be an exception. <br /> <br /> Ms. Carla Bruen, 6731 Via San Blas, stated she supports the pedestrian <br /> overcrossing.
