The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Councilmembers Butler, Mercer, Mohr, and Mayor Brandes NOES: None ABSENT: Councilmember Wood MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCILMEMBERS I~troduction of Draft Ordinance Regulatin9 Smoking Councilmember Mercer presented a draft ordinance regarding smoking regula- tion in public and work places. Councilmember Butler stated that while the objective is worthwhile he is not in favor of including places of employment in the ordinance; there is a public interest and a public need in public places such as restaurants, etc., but he felt it should be the responsibility of the employer to regulate smok- ing in places of employment. It was moved by Councilmember Mercer, and seconded by Mayor Brandes, that Ordinance No. 1262, to be read by title only and waiving further reading thereof, regulating smoking in public and work places, be introduced. The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Councilmembers Mercer, Mohr, and Mayor Brandes NOES: Councilmember Butler ABSENT: Councilmember Wood Mayor Brandes advised the audience that they would have an opportunity to comment on this matter at the second reading of the ordinance on July 15, 1986. Falcon Development Company Project at the Eastern End of West Las Positas Boulevard Rezoning Councilmember Mercer stated he requested this matter be placed on the agenda to have the City Council discuss the possibility of a review of the Falcon Development proposal at the eastern end of West Las Positas Boulevard because of the neighbors concern regarding density, traffic, and lack of park facilities. He stated that when Council amended the General Plan some time ago to prevent West Las Positas Boulevard from being a through street to Livermore it created other problems that Council was unaware of at that time. - 3 7-1-86
