Adoption of Resolution No. 86-305, a Resolution of Intention to amend the <br /> City contract with the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), relative <br /> to local firefighters. <br /> <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Butler, Mercer, Mohr, and Mayor Brandes <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilmember Wood <br /> <br />MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCILMEMBERS <br />I~troduction of Draft Ordinance Regulatin9 Smoking <br /> Councilmember Mercer presented a draft ordinance regarding smoking regula- <br />tion in public and work places. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Butler stated that while the objective is worthwhile he is <br />not in favor of including places of employment in the ordinance; there is a <br />public interest and a public need in public places such as restaurants, etc., <br />but he felt it should be the responsibility of the employer to regulate smok- <br />ing in places of employment. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Mercer, and seconded by Mayor Brandes, that <br />Ordinance No. 1262, to be read by title only and waiving further reading <br />thereof, regulating smoking in public and work places, be introduced. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Mercer, Mohr, and Mayor Brandes <br />NOES: Councilmember Butler <br />ABSENT: Councilmember Wood <br /> <br /> Mayor Brandes advised the audience that they would have an opportunity to <br />comment on this matter at the second reading of the ordinance on July 15, <br />1986. <br /> <br />Falcon Development Company Project at the Eastern End of West Las Positas <br />Boulevard Rezoning <br /> Councilmember Mercer stated he requested this matter be placed on the <br />agenda to have the City Council discuss the possibility of a review of the <br />Falcon Development proposal at the eastern end of West Las Positas Boulevard <br />because of the neighbors concern regarding density, traffic, and lack of park <br />facilities. He stated that when Council amended the General Plan some time <br />ago to prevent West Las Positas Boulevard from being a through street to <br />Livermore it created other problems that Council was unaware of at that time. <br /> <br /> - 3 7-1-86 <br /> <br /> <br />
