275 <br />Adoption of Ordinance No. 1283, Establishing Compensation for Mayor <br />Intro. 10-28-86, 3-Ayes, 1-No~ 1-Absent) <br /> Mayor Mercer stated that Ordinance No. 1283 was introduced on October 28, <br />1986, by a vote of 3-Ayes, 1-No, and 1-Absent, and that it was now in order to <br />adopt the ordinance. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Brandes stated he felt it is inappropriate for the Mayor to <br />be paid more than Councilmembers. The Mayor and other Councilmembers serve on <br />various Board and Commissions for which they receive compensation. He did not <br />think it was appropriate for the Mayor to make more than Councilmembers. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Butler disagreed with the comments of Councilmember Brandes; <br />he stated the additional responsibilities of the Mayor deserve a higher com- <br />pensation than Councilmembers. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Mohr, and seconded by Mayor Mercer, that <br />Ordinance No. 1283, establishing compensation for the Mayor, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Butler, Mohr, and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: Councilmember Brandes <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />Adoption of Ordinance No. 1284~ Modification to the Fire Sprinkler Ordinance <br />Intro. 10-28-86, - - <br /> <br />1986, at the request of staff the concerned developers. <br /> <br />REPORTS OF BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS <br />Actions Taken by the Design Review Board and Planning Commission at their <br />meeting of November 12, 1986 <br /> Mr. Swift presented his report (IR-86-93) dated November 18, 1986, regard- <br />ing this matter. No action was required or taken by Council on the item. <br /> <br />REPORTS OF THE CITY MANAGER <br />Request for Annexation Sycamore Road (Daggett) <br /> Mayor Mercer declared this item removed from the agenda, at the request of <br />staff. <br /> <br />Revision to Chapter 13, Pleasanton Municipal Code Encroachments <br /> Mayor Mercer declared this item removed from the agenda, at the request of <br />staff. <br /> <br />Review of Proposed BART Park and Ride Lot <br /> Mr. Swift presented his report (SR 86:500) dated November 18, 1986, <br />regarding this matter. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Butler stated he felt sure there are some minor things of <br />concern such as traffic and size of the parking lot, however, he felt it is <br />important for Council to support the location. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Brandes stated there is a joint study between LAVTA and BART <br />regarding light rail versus heavy rail, and he was not sure what the results <br />will be.
