227 <br /> Ms. Carol Boster, 2340 Greenberry Court, asked to have one point <br />clarified; if one contract was settled would those teachers still honor the <br />other teachers labor dispute. <br /> <br /> Ms. Bonnie-Kirshbalm,.303 Neal Street, asked Council if there is anything <br />they can do as City officials to help this issue along. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Mercer stated it is not in the City's purview to settle <br />school district problems, but added that he is willing to do whatever he can <br />to assist in getting the best resolution to solve the problem between the <br />school district and the teachers unions. Mayor Brandes, and Councilmembers <br />Mohr and Wood each expressed willingness to assist in whatever way possible to <br />resolve this issue. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Mohr, and seconded by Mayor Brandes, that <br />Resolution No. 86-500, that the City Council take a position that it is making <br />itself available as a body or individually to the community in whatever <br />fashion would be of assistance to resolve the dispute, that they support the <br />teachers union, and the school board, and the parents in asking that they <br />negotiate in good faith in whatever series of sessions is required until all <br />issues are resolved. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Mercer, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Brandes <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilmember Butler <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS <br />UP~86-42, Application of the City of Pleasanton for a conditional use permit <br />to establish a library facility on an approximately 4 acre site located at the <br />northeast corner of the intersection of Bernal Avenue and Old Bernal Avenue. <br />Zoning for the property is "P" - "CO" (Public and Institutional-Civic Overla~l <br />District <br /> Mayor Brandes declared this item dismissed from the agenda, as requested <br />by staff because it should not have been placed on the agenda. <br /> <br />Z-86-339, Application of the City of Pleasanton for design review approval to <br />construct a one-story, approximately 30,300 sq. ft. library and related <br />~~e located on an approximately 4 acre site at the northeast <br />corner of the intersection of Bernal Avenue and Old Bernal Avenue. Zoning for <br />the property is "P" "CO" (Public and Institutional-Civic Overlay) District <br /> <br />Consider Adoption of Neqative Declaration <br /> Mr. Swift presented his report (SR 86:467) dated October 28, 1986, re9ard- <br />ing this matter. <br /> <br /> Mayor Brandes declared the public hearing open on the application and the <br />negative declaration. <br /> <br /> Mr. Richard Sampson, CH2M Hill, representing the City as facilitator to <br />bring the architects together, stated the project has been scaled down from an <br />estimated capital cost of $8 million to an estimated $6 million. He presented <br />a rendering of the proposed library building. He stated at this point Council <br />approval of the design is needed in order to proceed with the project. <br /> <br /> Council discussion ensued regarding color of materials to be used on out- <br />side of building as well as landscaping plans.
