AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Wilson, and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />Support City of Oakland to bring a new Federal GSA Building to their City <br />Center <br /> Mayor Mercer stated the Oakland City Council has asked the P]easanton <br />Council to adopt a resolution supporting the location of a new Federal GSA <br />building in Oakland. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and seconded by Councilmember Wil- <br />son, that Resolution No. 87-137, endorsing and strongly supporting the loca- <br />tion of the General Services Administration Building in the City of Oakland's <br />City Center, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Wilson, and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> There were no City Council Committee Reports presented at this meeting. <br /> <br />MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br /> Mr. Terry Edwards, representing National Little League, stated that is a <br />need for more practice and playing fields for little leagues; he stated the <br />quality of the program will deteriorate as the City grows. He strongly sup- <br />ported preservation of the playing fields at Pleasanton Elementary School. <br />Mayor Mercer suggested he talk to the Park and Recreation Commission regarding <br />the need for additional sports fields for little league activities; they would <br />then make recommendtions to the Council. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS <br />AP-87-2, Appeal of the Planning Commission decision in denying PUD-86-16, Ap- <br />plication of Santa Anita Development Corporation for Planned Unit Development <br />rezoning and development plan approval for a 193,845 square foot commercial/ <br />retail center to be located on an approximately 18.2 acre site at the <br />southeast corner of the intersection of Stanley Boulevard and Bernal Avenue. <br />Zoning for the property is PUD (Planned Unit Development/-Commercial District <br /> <br />Consider Adoption of Negative Declaration <br />(Contd. Open from 3-17-87} <br /> Mr. Swift presented his report (SR 87:124} dated April 7, 1987, regarding <br />this matter. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer declared the continued public hearing Open on the appeal and <br />the Negative Declaration. <br /> <br /> Mr. Brad Hirst, 6280 West Las Positas, representing Santa Anita Develop- <br />ment Corporation, asked for a continuance of 90 days on this item the allow <br />for completion of the downtownimpact study; to allow for further discussion <br />regarding the property owners participation in a Community Redevelopment Agen- <br />cy that would funnel funds into downtown improvements; to allow for prepara- <br />tion of a revised site plan that will be upgraded to accommodate the major <br />tenants that have been secured in the last few days; and to discuss phasing of <br />the project, which he felt would alleviate some of the concerns of the oppo- <br />nents.
