He <br />understands they want to put up a lot of money to help this <br />downtown business. Wanted to address Council about a matter on <br />the agenda on Sept. 1st. regarding Black's modification at Grey <br />Eagle, which has now been postponed to 10/20/87 to allow staff to <br />review the new plans. Miss Luman read a letter indicating 19 of <br />28 lot owners have approved their plan. <br /> <br /> Richard St. John, 6925 Corte Mercado, brought a petition with <br />220 signatures to Council regarding locks on gates at Harvest <br />Park School on Greenwood Road during Saturday soccer matches. <br />This is creating a big problem with kids and parents climbing the <br />fence to get to the fields. It is not preventing parking on <br />Greenwood if that was the intention. There was an incident where <br />a little girl was injured and emergency vehicles could not get to <br />the park speedily because of the locked gates on Greenwood Road. <br />This is on the agenda for the Park and Recreation Commission. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Butler indicated this locking of the gates is <br /> fairly recent. Mr. St. John said there was an agreement between <br /> soccer association and homeowners in the Spring and gates have <br /> been locked starting four weeks ago. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer indicated he was approached by Mr. St. John at a <br /> soccer game and he agrees this is a bad situation. There is a <br /> lack of parking and people have to walk a long way to get around <br /> the fence. This has not prevented parking on Greenwood, since <br /> people either walk around or go over the fence. Mercer suggested <br /> this for the next agenda so it could be brought back to Council <br /> with a recommendation from the Park and Recreation Commission. <br /> Asked Mr. St. John to leave name so he can get copy of the Park <br /> <br /> - 9 - 10-6-87 <br /> <br /> <br />
