109 <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer stated he has received complaints from realtors that their A- <br />frame signs are being picked up on the weekends by City personnel. He stated <br />he does not find these signs offensive and felt it provides a service. He <br />suggested the sign ordinance be reviewed to allow under permit the A-frame <br />signs on weekends. Mr. Swift advised that the present ordinance allows the A- <br />frame signs except within a center median. He stated this presents a safety <br />hazard and City crews are instructed to remove any signs that are within the <br />center median. Mayor Mercer requested that the sign ordinance be reviewed <br />regarding the A-frame signs. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer stated he would like to pass a resolution commending the <br />Pleasanton Fire Department and all mutual aid units for their prompt action on <br />the fire at the condominium project near Stoneridge Mall. It was moved by <br />Mayor Mercer, and seconded by Councilmember Brandes, that the need arose after <br />posting of the agenda and that no party will be affected adversely by lack of <br />notice of this item; that an item be added to the agenda commending the <br />Pleasanton Fire Department and all mutual aid units for their actions relative <br />to the Stoneridge Mall condominium fire. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Wilson, and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> It was moved by Mayor Mercer, and seconded by Councilmember Mohr, that <br />Resolution No. 88-98, commending the Pleasanton Fire Department and all Mutual <br />Aid Units for their outstanding efforts in containing the fire at the con- <br />dominium complex near Stoneridge Mall on February 25, 1988, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Wilson, and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer stated there are still automobiles on the sidewalk at the <br />Specialty Shop on First Street. Mr. Swift advised that Joe Detata had met <br />with the owner, who felt the parking of vehicles on the lot was allowed. <br />After research of the records it shows that vehicles are not allowed for any <br />outside display. Mr. Detata will be meeting with the store owner this week <br />and does not expect that there will be any problem in getting compliance with <br />the restriction. Mayor Mercer requested a report back regarding this matter. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer instructed that the Livermore Airport report which he re- <br />quested recently be placed on the agenda for March 15, 1988. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer stated he would like to get additional information on the <br />School Board bond issue to determine whether or not Council would like to sup- <br />port this matter. Councilmember Brandes stated he felt it is inappropriate <br />for Council to take formal action on School District issues. After discus- <br />sion, Mayor Mercer requested that this item be placed on the next agenda to <br />allow the School District to present information relative to the issue. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Brandes asked if there will be a violation of the satellite <br />dish ordinance relative to the Holiday Inn. He stated that Holiday Inn is <br />required to build a masonry wall around the satellite dish, which is going to <br />be a major wall if it happens. Mr. Swift advised that a wall masonry wall <br />will be required to screen the satellite dish. Mayor Mercer instructed staff <br />to investigate this matter and report back to Council. <br /> <br /> 4 - 3-1-88 <br /> <br /> <br />
