He concurred with staff recommendations for approval of
the project and asked that it be approved without further delay. He stated
that traffic seemed to be the major concern and that all studies reveal that
traffic figures are within the guidelines. He stated a service station is
needed at this location to serve the North Pleasanton area and the majority of
the neighbors feel it is an appropriate use of the land; the project will
generate less traffic than other alternatives. He advised the service station
will be at least 200 feet from the nearest homes, will be buffered by a 10 ft.
high soundwall and a retail center. He urged final approval of the proposed
service station.

Mr. Clayton Cameron, 4122 Goldcrest Circle, feels there is a need for a
service station in the North Pleasanton area and he recommended this project
be favorably acted upon immediately; no other project has been subject to de-
lays as this one has been.

Mr. Jim Dillon, 4288 Churchill Drive, stated he was at first opposed to
the project but has since changed his mind with all the concessions made on
the project that has satisfied his concerns. He felt it is the best use for
the land and that it will not hurt the neighborhood.

Ms. Holly Smith, 3571 Gresham Court, stated she was opposed to the sale of
beer and wine and the 24 hour per day operation but now is in favor of the
project with those concerns taken care of. She stated she is in favor of the
gas station being located at this site.

Mr. Chris Cameron, 6172 Everglades Court, stated he has lived in Pleasan-
ton 20 years and uses Santa Rita Road on his way to work; he is in favor of
this Shell Service Station. He advised that because of the lack of service
stations in Pleasanton he always has to wait in line to buy gas; he feels this
station will be an asset to North Pleasanton as well as bring in tax dollars
to the City.

Mr. Jim Namath, 2117 Alexander Way, stated that gas stations are vanishing
in the bay area and that lines are getting longer and longer to purchase gas;
that is a concern of his. Pleasanton should encourage a business such as this

6 - 2-16-88
