MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC Mr. Leo Heckathorn, 4202 Stanley Boulevard, asked when the final filing date is for the mayorial election in November. Mr. MacDonald advised the final filing date is August 12, 1988. Ms. Pat Griffin, 1055 Kottinger Drive, asked that landscaping be included in the upcoming Capital Improvement Program for Kottinger Drive near the park. She stated this area badly needs attention. PUBLIC HEARINGS AP-88-05, Appeal by the City Council of Planning Commission's decision for approval of Z-87-552~ Application of Robert Berkey for design review approval of a comprehensive sign program for the approximately 13,500 sq. ft. Lincoln/ Mercury Auto Dealership to be located at 4340 Rosewood Drive. Zoning for the property is PUD (Planned Unit Development}-Commercial District Mr. Swift presented his report {SR 88:64) dated February 16, 1988, regard- ing this matter. Mayor Mercer declared the public hearing open on this item. Mr. Martin Inderbitzen, 62 W. Neal Street, reprsenting the applicant, stated he has read and reviewed the staff report and concurs with staff recommendations. Mayor Mercer stated he is concerned that the ordinance allows a dealership to open then that dealer can sell as many different kinds of automobiles as he wants. No one in the audience spoke in opposition to this item. Mayor Mercer declared the public hearing closed. Council discussion ensued regarding signing and parking requirements as well as restrictions on kinds of automobiles that can be sold under an ap- proved PUD. It was the consensus of Council that the present ordinances ade- quately control the parking and kinds of automobiles of a dealership. It was moved by Councilmember Mohr, and seconded by Councilmember Wilson, that Resolution No. 88-77, denying AP-88-05, appeal by the City Council of Planning Commission's decision for approval of Z-87-552, application of Robert Berkey for design review approval of a comprehensive sign program for the ap- proximately 13,500 sq. ft.
