G3 <br /> <br /> Potential Purchase of 475 St. John Street <br /> Mr. Swift presented his report (IR 88:11) dated February 2, 1988, regard- <br /> ing this matter. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and seconded by Councilmember Mohr, <br /> directing staff to place a draft agreement on the agenda of February 16, 1988, <br /> for the purchase of the property at 475 St. John Street (old La Villa Res- <br /> taurant), for a minimum price of $200,000. <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Wilson, and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> Planning Staff Work Priorities <br /> Mr. Swift presented his report {IR 88:09} dated February 2, 1988, regard- <br /> ing this matter. <br /> <br /> Council discussion ensued regarding possible priorities for Planning staff <br /> projects. Councilmember Butler suggested that the Growth Management Program <br /> could be stretched out for a longer period of time without to much effect on <br /> the program. Mayor Mercer instructed staff to notify developers of the 177 <br /> units that are available next year. <br /> <br />MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCILMEMBERS <br />Report on Liquidated Damages for Public Works Contracts <br /> Mr. Elliott presented his report {SR 88:56) dated February 2, 1988, <br />regarding this matter. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer stated he had requested this report and is satisfied that <br />adequate mechanisms are in place to ensure that construction within the City's <br />right-of-ways will be completed with the least amount of inconvenience to the <br />public. <br /> <br /> Council took no further action on this item. <br /> <br />LAVWMA Actions <br /> Councilmember Brandes asked if Council representatives on the LAVWMA Board <br />would ask for Council input before making formal decisions on important mat- <br />ters before LAVWMA. Councilmember Butler advised that the Joint Powers Agree- <br />ment requires that when there is a major action to be decided upon by LAVWMA <br />the representatives on that Board must have direction from their Council be- <br />fore a formal vote will be taken on any issue. He added that the same pro- <br />cedure is followed by the Tri-Valley Wastewater Management Authority. <br /> <br />Hopyard Shopping Center <br /> Mayor Mercer stated he received a call from a tenant at the Hopyard Shop- <br />ping Center stating the landlord has requested the tenants to park in the <br />front parking lot because the City messed up on the sidewalk and he is not <br />able to take down the fence in the rear of the property to provide for tenant <br />parking in the back. Mayor Mercer instructed staff to investigate this <br />matter. <br /> <br />Antique Automobile Parking on First Street <br /> Councilmember Wilson stated that the Conditional Use Permit for the An- <br />tique Automobile Dealership on First Street prohibits the parking of cars on <br /> <br /> - 4 2-2-88 <br /> <br /> <br />
