Mr. Clay Cameron, 4122 Goldcrest Circle, stated it will be a
convenience for him and his business to have a Shell Service Sta-
tion at this location.

Mr. Rich Parejo, 609 Blossom Court, stated a letter had been
sent to Council from the Rheem business area; it would be of
great benefit not to have to go elsewhere for gas.

Mr. Chris Cameron, Everglades Court, stated the proposed
project is a nice facility and convenient to many people.

The following persons spoke in opposition to the item:

Mr. Robert Fairman, 3979 Fairlands Drive, reiterated his op-
position to the proposed project because of traffic, and felt
there is a better use for that corner. He stated this location
is the entrance to the City and that it should make a more posi-
tive statement. He asked that Council reconsider the use of that
land; he felt that a service station and mini-mart services can
be obtained elsewhere. He thanked the Council, developer, and
owners for their efforts, but he felt it project is wrong for the
subject location.

Mr. Maurice Turner, 4222 Churchill Drive, stated he bought
his property two years ago and there was no mention of a gas sta-
tion be located at this site. He stated he is opposed to the
sale of alcohol at the facility. Mayor Mercer advised that the
sale of alcohol has already been prohibited.

Mr. Robert Morretta, 4272 Fairlands, stated he had previously
lived in other high quality style cities and moved to Pleasanton
because of the same standard of living. He felt the proposed
project would not be an asset to the City; he asked Council to
re-evaluate this proposed facility and its impact on the entrance
to the community.

Mr. Carl Zimmerman, 4038 Rockingham Drive, stated he lives
near the proposed project and he did not feel this type of
facility should be allowed next to residential homes. He urged
Council to reconsider this type of use adjacent to a residential
neighborhood.

Mr. Tom Wallace, 3548 West Las Positas, stated that many of
the surrounding residents are not aware of what was presented at
the meeting held by the developers; he asked to have the matter
continued to allow neighbors to have a chance to look at the pro-
posed changes. He felt there is a more appropriate use of this
corner.

Mayor Mercer advised that anyone desiring to speak further on
this item may do so at the hearing that will be before Planning
Commission at their meeting of January 27th, and again when it
comes back to Council.

Mr. Henry Hatten, 3963 Fairlands Drive, stated he felt the
hours of operations should be from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and

- 11 - 1-19-88
