He took exception to the remarks that the negotiator is the <br />problem o <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer stated that every City Council has been proud of City <br />employees. He stated this Council will try to figure out why the delays; <br />Council accepts responsibility and will try to find a solution. <br /> <br /> Terry Doe, President of the PCEA in 1987, stated he felt it is very <br />i~portant to get Mr. Walker involved in the negotiations; he is hard but fair. <br />He stated to have an outside negotiator is ridiculous, and if one is hired he <br />should be a local person. He stated the Pleasanton City Employees Association <br />are not asking for more than Police and Fire; they want to be equal and get <br />the same benefits. The employees provide a service to the cun~unity the same <br />as Police and Fire; he asked Council to take this into consideration. <br /> <br /> Tim Miltner, City employee in the street department, stated he felt <br />CounciLmember Brandes was ill-informed. He ask_~__ '~when does the negotiator <br />inform Council?" He stated the employees were told that Council was well <br />informed o <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer told the Pleasanton City Employees Association that Council <br />will adjourn to an emergency Executive Session at the close of this meeting to <br />discuss PCEA labor negotiations; he invited employees to crime back after that <br />Session to find out the action taken by Council. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEAR/NGS <br />item 9a <br />Adoption of Resolution of Necessity regard~ Molinaro Property <br /> <br />Status Re~ort Concerninq Action to be Taken on 1.2 Acre Parcel Needed for <br />Nielsen Park <br /> Mayor Mercer declared the public hearing open on this item, and continued <br />it to the meeting of August 2, 1988, 7:30 p.m., in the Pleasanton Council <br />Chambers, at the request of staff. <br /> <br />item 9b <br />Introduction of an Ordinance Establishinq Two Permit Parkinq Zones <br /> Mr. Bocian presented his report (SR 88:335) dated July 19, 1988, <br />regarding this matter. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer declared the public hearing open on the item. <br /> <br /> Mr. George Dickey, 4880 Merganser Court and owner of the property at 1370 <br />Santa Rita Road, stated that as a landlord it is not advantageous to rent or <br />sell the Santa Rita Road house with these restrictions, but since he does not <br />live there he does not know the situation. To his knowledge, in the last 10- <br />12 years he has never had a cc~plaint frc~n a tenant regarding this matter. He <br />would like to suggest that this particular block be excluded from the parking <br />restrictions, but he has not talked to any of the neighbors.
