He stated a few rooky realtors sometime use open house signs in bad <br /> taste but for the most part realtors take careful consideration in placing the <br />0 signs. <br />(ZXZ) There being no further testimony, Mayor Mercer declared the public hearing <br />C~) closd on this item. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Brandes stated he questioned the need for open house signs; <br /> advertising should take care of this need, and other people should not have to <br /> bear the unpleasing aesthetics of open house signs. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Brandes to amend the Municipal Code to pro- <br /> hibit the placement of open house signs within a public right-of-way. <br /> <br /> The motion died for lack of a second. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer stated he felt the ordinance would improve the situation; <br /> removal of signs from the median will improve safety, especially for children <br /> crossing a street. It also sets forth regulations that the code enforcement <br /> officer can use with authority as to whether or not a sign is properly placed. <br /> It also provides a service to the community. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Mohr stated she would abstain on this item as a matter of <br /> principle because she is a realtor. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Mayor Mercer, and seconded by Councilmember Butler, that <br /> Ordinance No. 1362, to be read by title only and waiving further reading <br /> thereof, approving RZ-88-4, application of the City of Pleasanton to amend the <br /> Municipal Code to allow the placement of real estate open house directional <br /> signs within a public right-of-way, subject to certain restrictions, be <br /> introduced. <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmembers Butler, Wilson, and Mayor Mercer <br /> NOES: Councilmember Brandes <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> ABSTAINED:Councilmember Mohr <br /> <br /> item 9c <br /> Application of the City of Pleasanton for review and approval of plans relat- <br /> ing to the construction of the cross-town sanitary sewer interceptor facility <br /> <br /> Consider Adoption of Neqative Declaration <br /> Mr. Elliott presented his report (SR 88:229) dated May 17, 1988, regarding <br /> this matter. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer declared the public hearing open. <br /> <br /> No one in the audience spoke in favor of or in opposition to the item. <br /> Mayor Mercer declared the public hearing closed. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Butler, and seconded by Councilmember Mohr, <br /> that Resolution No. 88-236, determining on the basis of a review of initial <br /> environmental study done for this project, that no significant environmental <br /> impact would occur as outlined in the City's guidelines and that a negative <br /> <br /> - 8 - 5-17-88 <br /> <br /> <br />
