361 <br /> Dr. Howard Long, 363 St. Mary Street, asked Council to keep in mind the <br />character of the residents of downtown, along with the keeping the charactor <br />of the buildings. <br /> <br /> No action was taken by Council relative to this matter. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS <br />item 9a <br />AP-88-07 Appeal of a decision of the Board of Adjustment denying approval of <br />the application of John Pinto for a variance from the Municipal Code to allow <br />construction of a carport structure within the required side yard setback to <br />be located at 4667 Whiting Street. Zoning for the property is R-1-6500 <br />(Single-family Residential} District <br /> Mr. Walker presented the report of the Director of Planning and Community <br />Development (SR 88:202} dated May 3, 1988, regarding this matter. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer declared the public hearing open on this appeal. <br /> <br /> No one in the audience spoke in favor of or in opposition to the item. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer declared the public hearing closed. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Butler, and seconded by Councilmember Wil- <br />son, that Resolution No. 88-202, denying AP-88-07, appeal of a decision of the <br />Board of Adjustment denying approval of the application of John Pinto for a <br />variance from the Munitipal Code to allow construction of a carport structure <br />within the required side yard setback to be located at 4667 Whiting Street, be <br />adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Wilson, and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />item gb <br />PUD-85-2-2D-1M, Application of Val Strough Auto Village for a major modifica- <br />tion to an approved development plan for an existing automobile sales and ser- <br />vice complex to provide for expansion of facilities including approximately <br />4,075 sq. ft. Of additional sales/service area, parking, signage, and related <br />improvments located at 4341 Rosewood Drive. Zoning for the property is PUD <br />(Planned Unit Development}-Commercial District <br />(Contd. Open from 4-19-88) <br /> Mr. Walker presented that report of the Director of Planning and Community <br />Development {SR 88:197) dated May 3, lg88, regarding this matter. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer declared the continued public hearing open on the item. <br /> <br /> Mr. John Nakamura, 4341 Rosewood Drive, General Manager of Val Strough <br />Auto Center, stated that at the last meeting the primary problem he saw was <br />the concern over the parking situation. Since that time he has researched the <br />idea of the drop lot for excess investory and they have three things working <br />right now: (1) their sister Hyundai store in Oakland has just acquired another <br />acre and one-half, they will take any overflow from this facility; {2) they <br />have entered negotiations with Atkins Enterprises on Vasco Road, which is on <br />County property, to get into a lease agreement on a current RV lot facility; <br />and (3) he is working with Doty Cadillac in Dublin for use of their warehouse <br /> <br /> 10 - 5-3-88 <br /> <br /> <br />
