395 <br /> <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> Vice Mayor Butler thanked the Council for their vote of <br />confidence and stated he appreciates this opportunity to serve as <br />Vice Mayor for another year. <br /> <br />item 6d <br />Vacancy on Planning Commission <br /> Mayor Mercer stated there is now a vacancy on the Planning <br />Commission due to the election of Mr. Tarver as a Councilmember. <br />He recommended that Alternate Member Jack Hovingh be appointed as <br />a Regular Member, and that the Alternate Member vacancy be <br />advertized with a deadline for filing applications of January 6, <br />1989. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Butler, and seconded by <br />Councilmember Tarver, that Resolution No. 88-565, confirming the <br />appointment of Alternate Member Jack Hovingh as a Regular Member <br />on the Planning Commission, to fill the unexpired term of Ben <br />Tarver, said term to expire May 5, 1992, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Tarver, and Mayor <br /> Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer stated he would like to explore the possibility <br />of forming a design review committee which is separate from the <br />Planning Commission and Design Review Board, to review <br />architectural design, landscaping, etc., and to take advantage of <br />the expertise of experienced people in the community. He directed <br />staff to bring back a report regarding this meeting at the second <br />meeting in January. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer stated he would like to form a golf course <br />committee to investigate various sites, costs, funding, <br />groundskeepers, etc. This committee would report back to Council <br />with their findings to develop a golf course in the City of <br />Pleasanton. Council concurred. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> There were no City Council Committee Reports presented at <br />this meeting. <br /> <br />MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br /> Ms. Christine Steiner, 596 Hamilton Way, thanked the City <br />Council for their support of the Alameda County Housing Authority. <br />She presented a report describing the programs, the total program <br />growth, Section 8 waiting list, and applications by City within <br />each jurisdiction.
