He stated he is pretty sure he is <br />not interested now in the Sunol Boulevard extension but he is not <br />convinced that it should be left off the plan. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer stated that when items get left in, somehow they <br />seems to keep surfacing until they gets built. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Mohr stated the City went to a great deal of <br />trouble and expense to take one railroad track out so that there <br />is only one. The City also incurred considerable expense for <br />grade separations. At the time the SP right-of-way was going on <br />the market and the County was going to buy it, she made a fairly <br />strong statement that if anyone was going to own it, it should be <br />the City. She still feels that way. She stated she has some real <br />problems with the thought that the right-of-way is going to end up <br />with surface trackage on it, i.e., light rail or public transit, <br />that are going to cross at grade separations and streets after <br />Council worked so hard to get the SP tracks abandoned. There is a <br />100 foot right-of-way on the WP line that would accommodate a <br />second rail. If the City has a light rail system it should be <br />doubled up with the WP tracks. She asked if there was any way in <br />this process that this could be accomplished with any <br />practicality. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer stated the tracks do not go in the same <br />direction. <br /> <br /> There being no further testimony, Mayor Mercer declared this <br />public hearing continued Open to the meeting of January 3, 1989, <br />7:30 p.m., in the Pleasanton Council Chambers. <br /> <br />item 9i <br />Joint Public Hearinq with Community Development Agency on <br />Redevelopment Plan and Final Environmental Impact Report <br /> <br /> Because of the earlier draw, Mayor Mercer and Councilmember <br />Mohr abstained from participation in this item. <br /> <br /> Vice Mayor Butler called the joint meeting of the City <br />Council and Community Development Agency to order. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lee presented his report (SR 88:565) dated December 6, <br />1988, regarding this matter, and entered into the record of this <br />joint public hearing the following documents: <br /> <br />Exhibit 1 Affidavit of publication of notice of the joint <br /> public hearing, published once a week for four <br /> successive weeks in The Valley Times as required by <br /> Sections 33349 and 33361 of the Health and Safety <br /> Code. <br /> <br />Exhibit 2 Certificate of mailinq notice of the joint public <br /> hearing, together with a statement concerning <br /> <br /> - 25 - <br /> 12-6-88 <br /> <br /> <br />
