291

properties should be a part of this annexation application.

Mr. Ricardo Aguire, 3752 Trenery Drive, stated he requested
annexation in 1986; his plan was to go with the Stoneridge
Specific Plan. Although he was denied his request for annexation
he was told it was a matter of time. He stated he would like to
be a part of the City of Pleasanton and participate the same as
everyone else.

A partner of Dr. Aguire who lives on Foothill Road, stated he
bought property on Trenery Drive with the intent of building a
home, however, his request for annexation was denied so he bought
a house on Foothill Road. He did not feel it was fair for Council
not to approve this annexation request because one or two property
owners were not willing to annex; he felt the majority should be
considered.

After discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and
seconded by Councilmember Wilson, directing staff to proceed with
the annexation of five parcels (approximately 21 acres) located on
Trenery Drive, and the one acre parcel owned by Kamp located at
3775 Trenery Drive; directing staff to prepare a formal resolution
for Council consideration requesting the annexation and
application to LAFCO; and directing staff to notify all property
owners in the vicinity of said annexation of the time and place at
which the resolution will be considered.
The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Wilson, and Mayor
Mercer
NOES: None
ABSENT: None

item 12b
Report on Joint ~ymnasium Project with Pleasanton School District
Ms. Bengtson presented her report (SR 88:519) dated November
1, 1988, regarding this matter.

Mr. Ryan McKeon, Chairperson of the Park and Recreation
Commission, asked that the Council support the Park and Recreation
Commission recommendation to construct two City-owned gymnasiums
at two Junior High Schools in Pleasanton.

Councilmember Butler stated he felt this project should be
given a high priority.

Mayor Mercer stated he did not know if the gyms could be
constructed in time for the opening of the school year. He felt
these two gyms would be a tremendous asset to the community and
requested that staff move as soon as possible on a financing plan
in conjunction with the School District.

Councilmember Mohr expressed concern regarding the booking of
the gyms for City use.

- 12 - 11-1-88
