She felt the present bond issue would benefit East
Bay Regional Park District far more than it would the City of
Pleasanton, and that Pleasanton taxpayers would be paying for open
space that could not be used by the residents. She felt it would
be improper for the City to support such a agency and it would
encumber future generations to pay for the bond issue; she urged
Council not to endorse Measure AA.

Ms. Joselyn Combs, Second Street, and member of the Board of
Directors for the East Bay Regional Park District, asked for
support of Measure AA. She advised the bond issue will allow
acquisition and development of parks for the City of Pleasanton as
well as for the East Bay Regional Parks District. She stated it
affords the East Bay Regional Park District the opportunity to
work with the City to provide both open space and developed parks.
She reviewed the build out plans for Shadow Cliffs Park as well as
the proposed improvements to Del Valle Park and preservation of
Sunol and Pleasanton Ridge.

Councilmember Butler asked if a skateboard ramp facility is
in the Master Plan for Shadow Cliffs Park, as discussed at the
last Council meeting. Ms. Combs advised that the possibility of a
skateboard facility is being considered by the District Planning
staff at this time.
- 6 -

10-18-88
