Zoninq for the property is CRfp) (Reqiona] <br /> Commercial-Periphery) District <br /> Mr. Swift presented his report (SR 88:469) dated October 4, <br /> 1988, regarding this matter. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer declared the public hearing open on this item. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lew Ripstein, representing Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, <br />stated he concurs with the staff report. He reviewed the parking <br />ratios, stating that an additional 54 spaces will be added <br />preparatory to a new office building. He advised that plans for <br />this building will be presented to staff within the next two <br />months. That document will show there will be adequate parking. <br />In the meantime there is need for the modular building to house <br />the pharmacy. He stated that similar modulars are being used in <br />Walnut Creek and Fremont. The modular will permit Kaiser to <br />service its members at the current levels. He advised that Kaiser <br />hopes to start construction next summer with completion of the <br />building within twelve to fifteen months thereafter. He stated <br />they would make the modular as compatible as possible with the <br />surroundings. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Brandes stated he requested this item be <br />appealed because of his concern regarding the time period for use <br />of the modular unit. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer stated he has no problem with the use of a <br />modular but does not like the exterior looks of this facility. He <br />urged Mr. Ripstein to look at the modular being used at the Koll <br />Business Center and try to make his modular as attractive. <br /> <br /> No one in the audience spoke in opposition to this item. <br /> <br /> There being no further testimony, Mayor Mercer declared the <br />public hearing closed. <br /> <br /> - 11 - <br /> <br /> 10-4-88 <br /> <br /> <br />
