133 <br /> <br />Item 7c <br />Six Months Attendance Reports of Planning Commission, Parks and <br />Recreation Commission, Human Services Commission, and Housinq <br />Authority Commission <br /> Mr. Walker presented the report regarding this matter. <br /> <br /> The Councilmembers noted that this was one of the best <br />attendance records they have seen. <br /> <br />Item 7d <br />Actions Taken by the Board of Adjustment, Design Review Board, and <br />Planning Commission at the meeting of June 28, 1989 and July 12, <br />1989 <br /> Mr. Swift presented his report (IR 89:53) regarding this <br />matter. <br /> <br /> Mr. Brandes asked why the application of V-89-11, Collins, <br />was approved when the staff recommended denial. <br /> <br /> Mr. Swift responded that this was a variance very similar to <br />the ones handled earlier. The trellis screens a spa structure. <br />There was another case where the work was already done and the <br />property owners are now applying for a variance. <br /> <br /> Mr. Brandes appealed the application. <br /> <br /> Mr. Rathbone commented that the government needed some <br />streamlining and should do away with either the Design Review <br />Board or the Planning Commission. <br /> <br />Item 7e <br />Trauma System Funding <br /> Mr. Walker presented his report (IR 89:49) regarding this <br />matter. He informed the Councilmembers that the County would have <br />a public hearing on this matter on August 8, 1989 and inquired if <br />the City Council wanted to make any input. <br /> <br /> Mr. Mercer emphasized the importance of this to the <br />community. He noted that Pleasanton residents now go to Eden <br />Hospital and that this does net provide funds for Eden Hospital <br />unless they become necessary. However, taking trauma systems out <br />will create tremendous adverse effects on the community; it is <br />therefore vital that these centers remain open. <br /> <br /> Mr. Butler mentioned that the proposal at the Advisory Board <br />made several years ago approved up to a $10 tax. This proposal <br />goes beyond that, up to $15.58. <br /> <br /> Ms. Mohr inquired if this would lock in Children's, Highland <br />and Eden Hospital or, if in the future, should Valley Memorial <br />Hospital be able to provide that service, it would be eligible to <br />participate. <br /> <br /> -17- <br /> <br /> <br />
