219

Mr. Leo Heckathorn, 4202 Stanley Blvd., handed Mr. Mercer a
picture of Main Street and inquired if something could be done
about having uniform building setbacks and sidewalk widths.

Mr. Mercer explained that Main Street has certain structures
and characteristics which have been there from the very beginning
and which make Main Street, Pleasanton, what it is today.

Ms. Linda Cassens, 4082 Suffolk Way, asked if the City staff
would come up with a report on PUD-83-9-1M regarding washers and
dryers in every unit of Gatewood Apartments, and if so, when that
would be.

Mr Mercer referred the inquiry to Mr. Swift.

Mr. Swift replied that he had contacted Mr. Joe Simmons,
Project Developer of Gatewood Apartments, to confer with him on
the matter and expected to have a report ready in a month's time.

Ms. Cassens requested that she be notified when it comes up
on the Agenda.

6. PUBLIC HEARINGS
Item 6a
Revised Municipal Code Pertaining to Recreational Facilities
Ms. Bengtson presented her report (SR 89:349) regarding the
matter.

Mr Mercer declared the public hearing open on the
application.

A gentleman indicated that he agreed with the proposed
revisions made in connection with recreational facilities.

Mr. Mercer asked Ms. Bengtson to explain what has been and
would be worked out regarding bike access to Augustin Bernal
Park.

Ms. Bengtson indicated that they are starting a series of
study sessions in the Park and Recreation Commission that would
determine the rules and regulations for Augustin Bernal Park, and
that the bicycle people would be invited to participate at these
sessions. Meanwhile, the park would be improved and brought to
acceptable safety standards. Hopefully, the rules would have been
reviewed by Council and ready for implementation by the time the
park is ready to reopen.

Mr. Mercer inquired how long it would take before the
policies were brought back to Council.

-4-
8-1-89
