423 <br /> <br /> Mr. Brandes commented that he would want to see the study <br />started soon and suggested that Mr. Richard Sampson be hired as a <br />consultant. <br /> <br /> Mr. Tarver agreed that an initial study could be done. <br /> <br /> Ms. Mohr stated that she agreed with Mr. Butler and pointed <br />out that the historical perspective and input that Mr. Walker can <br />bring to the study would be valuable. Some of the ground work <br />would already be laid by the time the new City Manager comes in. <br /> <br /> Mr. Mercer requested Mr. Walker to direct staff to refine the <br />options for a City Hall building which the Council can look at and <br />decide on. <br /> <br />Council Discussion on Earthquake Emergency Fund <br /> <br /> Mr. Brandes expressed concern for the smaller communities, <br />particularly Watsonville and Santa Cruz, that have experienced <br />extensive damage from the earthquake and suggested that the City <br />send them some financial aid. <br /> <br /> Mr. Mercer concurred and suggested that aid be likewise sent <br />to Los Gatos. <br /> <br /> Mr. Butler commented that this might have to be put on the <br />Agenda first. <br /> <br /> Mr. Beougher stated that the Council would have to make an <br />emergency finding. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Mr. Brandes, and seconded by Mr. Mercer, that <br />Resolution No. 89-452 be adopted, adding to the Agenda the <br />discussion to send financial aid to the cities of Watsonville, <br />Santa Cruz and Los Gatos. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Tarver and Mayor <br /> Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br /> -12- <br /> 10-31-89 <br /> <br /> <br />
