279 <br /> <br /> It was moved by Mr. Mercer, and seconded by Mr. Tarver, that <br />Resolution No. 89-392 be adopted, approving the installation of <br />stop signs on Greenwood Road at its intersection with Canary <br />Drive. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Mohr, Tarver and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: Councilmember Butler <br />ABSENT: Councilmember Brandes <br />ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br /> Mr. Mercer stated that he received a letter form Ms. Jean <br />Kanter and Ms. Margo Schmelzer regarding four churches in town <br />that are operating out of industrial buildings because they could <br />not find suitable locations in town. <br /> <br /> Mr. Rich St. John mentioned that the search for suitable land <br />has been on for three years and that they were interested in and <br />willing to pay for about 1.5 acres of the 7.5-acre land between <br />Black Avenue and Hansen Drive which is owned by the School <br />District and zoned public-institutional. <br /> <br /> Mr. Mercer requested Mr. Swift to have the Planning <br />Commission prepare a report on this piece of property and look for <br />other sites for churches in the community for possible rezoning. <br /> <br /> Ms. Mohr stated that she had sent out a memorandum to the <br />members of the Downtown Revitalization Committee scheduling its <br />first meeting for Monday, September 18, 1989 at 8:00 a.m. She <br />anticipates a weekly Monday morning meeting for an hour and a half <br />until the Committee gets going. She invited Mr. Mercer to come to <br />its first meeting to help set the Committee's direction and scope <br />of work. <br /> <br /> Mr. Mercer accepted the invitation and indicated that he <br />would attend the meeting. <br /> <br /> Ms. Mohr commented that someone went through the soundwall <br />that the City was going to rebuild on Valley Avenue across the <br />Valley Business Park and left a big hole exposing the resident's <br />back yard. <br /> <br /> Mr. Elliott replied that a temporary wooden fence would be <br />put up at minimal cost within the next two weeks. <br /> <br /> Mr. Tarver stated that the interchange at Bernal Avenue and <br />1-680 is being used by Caltrans to dump their road improvement <br />debris and that they should be asked to clean the place up. <br /> <br /> Mr. Elliott replied that he would follow up on this. <br /> <br /> -18- <br /> 9-5-89 <br /> <br /> <br />
