That party intends to move the house to
another lot and has no intention to build a house on top of the
Ridge.

Mr. Brandes inquired if Hayward's Mayor Sweeney or his staff
has responded to the letter written by City officials regarding
the Ridge.

Mr. Mercer said no.

Mr. Roush stated that the City Attorney of Hayward indicated
that the bank that owns the Ridgeland house has applied for a
building permit to do further remodeling work on the interior
amounting to about $500,000. He added that if a building permit
application for the adjacent 11 acre parcel comes in, the project
will be subject to environmental assessment and would have to go
through Hayward's site development design review, during which
time the public would have a chance to comment on the project.

Mr. Brandes inquired if anything could be done about the
permit for the $500,000 renovation.

Mr. Roush said no. He pointed out that the City of Hayward
would not be able to deny the application if it meets all the
requirements of the Building Code.

- 15 -
6-5-90
