148

Mr. Mike Purcell, representing Chevron U.S.A., 2410 Camino
Ramon in San Ramon, commented that he supported the change in the
definition of the gasoline station parking requirements to reflect
the current situation on how consumers buy gasoline.

There being no further testimony, Mr. Mercer declared the
public hearing closed.

Mr. Tarver commented that since it is staff's intent to use
the term "service station" in lieu of "gasoline station", staff
should use the same term consistently throughout the Ordinance. He
inquired if the rationale for changing the parking requirements for
service stations with convenience marts from the number of
employees to gross square footage includes employee parking
requirements as well as convenience mart parking.

Mr. Swift replied that there would be one set of parking
requirements for the convenience mart and another for the service
station, whether it be self-serve or full-serve.

It was moved by Ms. Mohr, and seconded by Mr. Butler, that
Ordinance No. 1494 be introduced, to be read by title only and
waiving further reading thereof, approving RZ-90-8, the application
of the City of Pleasanton to amend the Pleasanton Municipal Code
definitions, parking standards, and location criteria for full-,
self-, and quick-service station, convenience market, and full-,
self-, and drive-through car wash uses, as set forth in the Staff
Report.
The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers Butler, Mohr, Scribner, Tarver and Mayor
Mercer
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None

- 10 -
12-11-90
