110

Ms. Melanie Bentley, 23 Gray Eagle Court, Member of the City's
Human Services Commission, indicated that her strong support for
the project and requested Council approval.

Mr. Bob Schlarb, 5162 Greentree Court, stated that he was in
favor of the project.

Mr. Larry McColm, 3254 Omega Circle, indicated that he was in
favor of this type of project in Pleasanton so that Pleasanton
residents can have their elderly members close to their families.
He stated that a vote for the project would be a vote for the
senior citizens.

Mr. Bob Wilson, 4173 Crisfield Lane, stated that the issue is
that this is a right project in the wrong place. He expressed
concern about the density of the project which would result in
other issues like traffic, safety and the quiet enjoyment of the
neighborhood on weekends and evenings. He added that the developer
never proposed to meet with the neighbors and that the figures
presented by the developer were constantly changing. He suggested
that the appropriate place for this type of facility is in the
City's old Corporation Yard, where a Senior Center is being
planned.

Mr. Mercer asked Mr. Wilson how many rooms would he consider
to be a non-dense project.

Mr. Wilson replied that the residents presented a proposal for
35 rooms, which was not acceptable to the developer.

Ms. Mohr asked Mr. Wilson if 35 double occupancy rooms,
resulting in a total of 70 residents, would meet his criteria.

Mr. Wilson replied that he would like to see a plan for 35
rooms.

Mr. David Sharp, 4145 Crisfield Lane, owner of the property
directly across the project site, read a letter from Mr. Bruce
Bandali, a resident of 4117 Crisfield Avenue, indicating that
senior care facilities should be located in close proximity to
shopping centers and parks where senior citizens can have the
opportunity to walk and shop. The letter stated that the project
is too dense and that the widening of Mohr Avenue for parking
purposes would encourage speeding and aggravate the already bad
traffic situation. Mr. Sharp added that he was opposed not to the
project but to its high density and would like to see the project
reduced by 50%.

- 12 -
11-20-90
