129

Ms. Karen Tracy, 3103 Weymouth Court, President of Pleasanton
Meadows Association, indicated that several residents from the area
have complained that truck parking on Pimlico Drive is becoming a
problem because of McDonald's Restaurant, Bakers Square and the
Shell Station.

Mr. Larry McColm, 5776 Stoneridge Mall Road, property manager
for the Pimlico property where Trader Joe's is a tenant, stated
that contrary to the Staff Report, safety is not a problem on
Pimlico Drive, since there have been no reports of accidents caused
by parking on Pimlico Drive. He added that while some trucks park
on the street between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m., these trucks do not
pose a problem and have not made the street a truck stop. He
indicated that parking on the street is needed for car overflow,
especially on weekends, and that it would be a mistake to eliminate
all parking on Pimlico Drive for vehicles that are less than 20
feet in length.

Mr. Tarver inquired if off-street parking was considered as
part of the parking standards requirements when the shopping center
was approved.

Mr. Swift said no.

Ms. Annie Jones, owner of Everett and Jones Barbecue, 4040
Pimlico Drive, indicated that street parking is necessary for the
businesses in the shopping center because there are not enough
parking spaces in the lots for both customers and employees.

Mr. Mercer inquired if a "No Parking" sign indicating the fine
for violation can be posted on Pimlico Drive.

Mr. Roush replied that the current fine for a "No Parking"
violation for vehicles over 20 feet is $25.00. He added that a
recommendation could be made to the Municipal Court judges
regarding why the City would like to increase the amount of the
fine, and the approved fine could then be posted under the "No
Parking" sign.

Mr. Don Cortez, owner of Team Hot Dog, 4040 Pimlico Dirve,
indicated that with reference to the sign on his van, advertising
for small businesses like his can have a positive effect,
especially in an area where there is a lot of competition. He
stated that parking on the street for vehicles under 20 feet should
~e ~!!oT~ed since fh~ ]~c~ ~ ~~n ~pac~ ~n fh~ l~t ~.n be a
negative impact on the businesses.

~. ~ercer ~a~d that the ~ ~v ~an na ~ n~ ~h~ ~h~ ~d and
post a sign with the fine for parking violations of vehicles over
20 feet. He asked staff what could be done for McDonald's

- 23 -
4-2-91
