130

Restaurant during the next two weeks that its parking lot is under
construction.

Mr. Roush replied that Council can direct that Staff to take
down the "No Parking" sign on McDonald's Restaurant's side of the
street until the new parking lot is completed.

Mr. Butler stated that he agreed with prohibiting parking for
big trucks. He added, however, that Mr. Cortez has been searching
for ways to advertise his business legally and that there was
nothing offensive about the sign on the van.

Mr. Tarver inquired why there is a parking restriction on the
McDonald's Restaurant side.

Mr. Elliott replied that in order to have an effective
channelization, as the easterly part of the road narrows down
towards the City property, a parking restriction is necessary for
a certain distance before the road approaches the three lanes at
the intersection.

It was moved by Mr. Mercer, and seconded by Mr. Butler, that
Resolution No. 91-54 be adopted, prohibiting parking on Pimlico
Drive for trucks over 20 feet, allowing parking by the McDonald's
Restaurant during the two weeks that the restaurant's parking lot
is under construction, and directing staff to post the fine for
truck parking violation on "No Parking" signs and to have the curbs
by the driveways painted red.
The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers Butler, Mohr, Scribner and Mayor Mercer
NOES: Councilmember Tarver
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None

Ms. Mohr commented that parking spaces at the shopping center
appear to be insufficient, based on the statements made by business
owners that street parking for employees is needed. She requested
that staff look into the parking standard requirements for the uses
at the shopping center before any further approvals are made for
the area.

Item 12c
Report on Public Noticinq Procedures (SR 91:134)

Ms. Mohr ~t~te~ ~h~t ~,~hat is b~nq ~comm~n~ is not
necessarily an automatic extension of 300 feet but a means of
reaching those who would logically be concerned or affected by the
~n~, ~ga~d]~cc ~ *h~ g~g~phi~a! distanc~ ~ ~ site

- 24 -
4-2-91
