58

7. SPECIAL AND INFORMATION REPORTS
Item 7a
Actions of the Zoninq Administrator and of the Desiqn Review Board
and Planninq Commission at Their Meetinqs of Februarv 26-27, 1991
(IR 91:11)

Ms. Mohr asked staffShat the conditions of approval were for
V-91-3/Z-91-22, Wolthers/Aldenhuysen.

Mr. Swift replied that the conditions were that the same
redwood lattice material at the top of the fence be used to box in
the area beneath the deck and that the ivy that was planted in the
area be extended up to where the lattice would be, to lessen the
impact of the deck.

Ms. Mohr inquired if the part of the deck by the side yard
meets City standards.

Mr. Swift said yes.

8. MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCILMEMBERS
Item 8a
Appointment of City Treasurer

Mr. Mercer stated that the City Treasurer, Ms. Nancy D'Arcy,
has died and that Council could either appoint a new treasurer or
hold a special election. He indicated that he would prefer to make
an appointment rather than hold a special election and added that
in the past, Councilmembers have been involved in selecting a
candidate to fill a vacancy left by an elected official. He
proposed that a subcommittee consisting of Ms. Mohr and Ms.
Scribner be formed to interview the applicants and that based on
the subcommittee's recommendation, the appointment would be made on
Thursday, March 7th, at 5:30 p.m.

Valley-wide Recoqnition for Returninq Militarv Service Personnel

Ms. Mohr stated that a suggestion was made at the Tri-Valley
Council's dinner to have a Valley-wide recognition celebration for
the returning military service personnel on Armed Forces Day. She
suggested that Ms. Scribner serve as the liaison for the City.

Ms. Scribner commented that she had received positive comments
about the flags on Main Street. She stated that these flags were
purchased through donations and would be given to the service
personnel when they return. She suggested that the City purchase
flags that can be placed on Main Street on appropriate occasions
like Flag Day, the 4th of July, or Memorial Day.

- 8 -
3-5-91
