He asked for Council's support of this
request.

Guy Helmsley, Hilton Hotel, explained that the hotels in
Pleasanton are in a position to bring significant benefits from the
Convention and Visitors Bureau efforts. He indicated the City also
receives great benefits from non-hotel spending due to the efforts
of the CVB. He urged Council to support on-going funding at
maximum levels for the Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Peter Bailey, Alameda County Fairgrounds, encouraged the
Council to continue the support of the Convention Visitors Bureau.

Mr. Tarver asked Mr. Bailey if the Fairgrounds contributed to
the CVB.

Mr. Bailey answered yes, by way of $500 in dues.

Wayne Tyson, Good Guys West Coast Nationals, spoke in support
of this item. He stated that his group presents 25 car shows
across the country and four of those are held in Pleasanton. The
CVB assists their organization in maintaining relationships with
the City, the merchants and their participants. He indicated the initial idea was to
increase the TOT through their efforts.

Mr. Athenour stated that as a result of the CVB they had
projections out that showed significantly more TOT, but the TOT has
leveled out due to the economic restraints.

Mr. Butler wanted it to be understood that the revenues
collected for the Transient Occupancy Tax funded other things in
the City than the CVB.

Ms. Mohr supported this request. She explained that she did
not have a problem with sharing the TOT, but the hotels generate
demands on services far and above what a single-family home does.
She was pleased that the CVBwas willing to work with the city and
reduce its Budget.

Mr. Tarver stated that he did not have a problem with the
1992/93 budget amount that had been requested. He was looking for
a lower amount for 1993/94. He felt that the benefiting members

3/17/92 21
