149

Mayor Mercer describedthe different routes taken to go around
this intersection. He believed that placing a diverter in this
area would make traffic circulation difficult. He did not feel
that it was necessary to completely block this major intersection.
Mayor Mercer supported placing a traffic signal at this
intersection.

Mr. Butler agreed that he would rather have a traffic signal
at this location. He asked what the traffic counts were for this
intersection.

Mr. van Gelder said that the total daily count using the
intersection was approximately 1000. Most of the traffic was not
going through the intersection but were going up and down Chabot
Drive.

Ms. Mohr did not find the "worm" diverter a problem. She
agreed that a change needed to be made to that intersection but was
not sure that a signal was the answer.

There was general discussion on the different directions and
routes taken through and around this intersection.

It was moved by Mr. Butler, and seconded by Mr. Tarver,
approving the installation of a traffic signal at the intersection
of Stoneridge Drive at Chabot Drive.

The r011 call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers Butler, Mohr, Tarver and Mayor Mercer
NOES: None
ABSENT: Councilmember Scribner
ABSTAIN: None

Item 6b
Review of Permits and Rates for Taxicabs

This item was continued to the 8/18/92 City Council meeting.

Item 6c
RS-92-2, City of ~leasanton
Consideration of a Proposed Amendment to Chapter 18,100 of the
Municipal Code to Allow the Temporary Use of Banners for Reliqious
Institutions (SR92:308)

Mr. Mercer declared the public hearing open on the
application.

There being no testimony, Mr. Mercer declared the public
hearing closed.

7/2~/92 ?
