148

Water Issues

Robert Cordtz, 262 W. Angela, was concerned with DSRSD'S
having two of Pleasanton's stand-by generators. He asked what
resource would the City have if a more serious problem than the
recent disaster were to occur. He also asked what the progress was
on the contingency plan. He referred to his memo dated 11/5/91
regarding this plan and asked that it be included in the minutes.

Mr. Elliott confirmed that the two stand-by generators were at
the DSRSD Treatment Plant to assist it in the disaster and would be
used for the next couple of days. If a disaster were to occur
before Pleasanton got the generators back, the DSRSD would
immediately return the generators or another outside power source
would be used.

Mayor Mercer stated that Mr. Beebe from DSRSD called to thank
him for the assistance that City staff had provided.

Mr. Cordtz was also concerned that the revised emergency plan
was not in place. He referred to the recent disaster again and
stated that there was not an emergency plan.

Ms. Acosta explained that an emergency plan was brought to
Council and approved a few months ago. It includes every aspect of
the City's operations ......

6, PUBLIC HEARINGS

Item 6a
Approval of Traffic Diverter for Stoneridqe Drive at Chabot Drive
(SR92:298)

Mr. Mercer declared the public hearing open on the
application.

Ben Fernandez, 4330 Fairlands Drive, spoke in opposition to a
traffic diverter being placed on Stoneridge Drive at Chabot. He
preferred to have a traffic signal at this intersection. Mr.
Fernandez explained several routes used at this intersection, but
that he agreed that something needed to be done.

There being no further testimony, Mr. Mercer declared the
public hearing closed.

Mayor Mercer asked Mr. van Gelder to describe the diverter.

Mr. van Gelder explained that it would be approximately six
inches in height and one to two feet wide. It would look like a
median island with a six inch curb.

7/21/92 6
