147 A Pleasanton resident group charge is $15 per hour per field; a business group charge is $20 per hour per field; and non-resident groups are charged $30 per hour per field. She indicated that the field preparation fee is $6 per hour and the field monitor is approximately $9.75 per hour. Ms. Mohr asked if any volunteer efforts made by the Softball League would help to mitigate the cost. Ms. Bengtson answered that would be difficult. She added that the League received the reduced rate last year because it had not planned on paying full fees. This years' errors repeated last years. Mayor Mercer asked that Ms. Bengtson explain why the Softball Complex is operated as a business versus the soccer fields that have no fee. Ms. Bengtson explained that Council decided that when the Softball Complex was built, it would not cost the tax payers dollars to operate it. She has tried to have the program fees pay for the cost of operating this facility. Mr. Tarver asked what the procedure was in notifying the groups of what the fees were. Ms. Bengtson stated that when a group applies to use 'the complex, staff gathers all information regarding use time, field preparation, monitors needed etc. and then gets back to the applicant with a cost estimate. Ms. Mohr supported reducing the rental fee $500 for this year with the understanding that the rental fee information will be shared throughout the sport leagues and representatives. It was moved by Ms. Mohr, and seconded by Mayor Mercer, that the rental fee for the Adult Softball Complex for the Pleasanton Girls Softball League be reduced to $500 for the 1992 year.
