96

will start over, it will take much longer. He stated that the San
Francisco representatives said that they would go at the City of
Pleasanton's pace and do what the City of Pleasanton wanted them to
do. San Francisco also indicated that they were not willing to
sell the property except for the single-family residential. No one
on the Committee said that there should not be a golf course and
that is where he felt the plan should start.

Ms. Mohr added that San Francisco was very willing to work
with citizens' groups and supported having public hearings.

Mr. Tarvet explained that he was the single voice voicing that
things needed to slow down. He felt that the General Plan review
should be completed first.

Mayor Mercer explained the General Plan process. He also
explained that the Committee's agenda begins with public input so
that the concerns of the citizens are heard and discussed. He
added that there was no reason to have a time table for completion
of this process.

Ms. Scribner felt that it was important to remember that this
is a Steering Committee and that the public hearings are for the
public to come and share its concerns. She expressed concern about
continuity on the Committee because both Ms. Mohr's and the Mayor's
terms of office were expiring.

Mayor Mercer volunteered to step down from the Committee.

Ms. Scribner volunteered to take Mayor Mercer's place on the
Steering Committee.

Mr. Tarver asked that the San Francisco Steering Committee
meetings be noticed and posted so that the full Council could
attend. He strongly objected to proceeding with this Committee and
felt that the structure of the Committee and the timing were
inappropriate. He felt that the citizens should have an
opportunity to say what they want their City to look like in the
future.

It was agreed by Council to include Mr. Moore's property into
the study for the General Plan.

Sharrell Michelotti, 7873 Olive Court, suggested that the
Mayor continue attending the Committee meetings until his term
expired and that Ms. Scribner should attend as a citizen.

e/le/92 18
