She explained that her son was almost hit by a vehicle on <br /> her street and she was very concerned about' the safety of the <br /> children in the neighborhood. She requested Council's support. <br /> <br /> Larr~ Schneider pointed out that there was approximately 1500 <br /> vehicles that use Hears= Drive everyday and only approximately 25% <br /> of those vehicles are ones from Kottinger Ranch. The Kottinger <br /> Ranch area has 100 homes to be built as well the proposed Kottinger <br /> Hills project. These homes will increase the traffic and <br /> therefore, the number of vehicles using Hearst Drive will exceed <br /> 3000. <br /> <br /> Bob Monaghan, 4001 Pons Court, was very concerned with the <br /> traffic in his neighborhood. He stated that it was no longer safe <br /> for him to run in this area or to cross Hearst Drive. <br /> <br /> He referred to skid marks on the street in that area and explained <br /> that a speeding truck and trailer almost hit two compact cars. He <br /> said that the increase in police patrolling had helped the problem <br /> but was not solving it. <br /> <br /> Mike Terry, Chadbourne Court, indicated that his'dog was hit <br /> at the corner of his home. He indicated that when leaving in the <br /> mornings, heading east bound, the sun is facing the vehicle an~. <br /> therefore, it was difficult to see. He was also concerned. about <br /> more traffic from the new development. <br /> <br /> Ray Sinclair, reiterated that this corner was very hazardous. <br /> He explained that because this community is new, there are a lot of <br /> families with young-children. He urged Council to approve these <br /> requested stop signs. <br /> <br /> Laura Vox, 1174 Hearst Drive, expressed her 'support of this <br /> request. She explained that when she backs out of her driveway she <br /> almost gets hit because the cars go around the corner too fast for <br /> her to see them. She stated that on several occasions she had been <br /> passed while turning into her driveway. She urged Council to <br /> approve this request. <br /> <br /> Peter Foyle, Hearst Drive, expressed his concern with <br /> construction traffic. <br /> <br /> Lisa S~mmons, 1080 Hearst Drive, felt that there was nothing <br /> to lose by placing these signs in their community. She indicated <br /> that the association would pay for the signs to be placed and <br /> should they not work, the association would pay to have them <br /> removed.
